Hello,
A lot of happy faces
and one very happy tail on Thursday evening in Budapest. Mr. Bingley
is back with his family and we are all feeling great.
Dear
Christelle
I just
wanted to thank you and your team for the pleasant and professional
way in which you managed the transport of Oscar our parakeet from
Cape Town to Jhb.
It was
a pleasure dealing with you and knowing that our pet was in good
hands the whole way, it really gave me peace of mind.
Thanks
again.

I am
busy importing my first dog ever. The situation was very confusing
/ frustrating as I was sending backwards and forwards UNTILL somebody
referred me to Christelle. I am a Small Business Services Manager
at Nedbank and never in my life have I experienced such incredible
service. She is AWESOME and without her help I wouldn''t have been
able to manage. She went the extra mile and I believe did MORE than
what was expected of her. I would really like to nominate her for
GREAT SERVICE as she is a BIG ASSET to your company.

Afternoon
Chris/Wendy,
not
sure if you will get this before you leave, but just to let you
know
that Whiskey was in very good shape when I picked him up at the
airport.
The
travel crate was tidy, no dog or any other mess. There was water
in
the bowl. I only know one girl in customs at Toulouse airport and
luckily she was on duty today, so we got everything done before
the
office closed for lunch.
Whiskey
was a little shy/timid at first but glad to get out of the cage
and have a walk about on some grass and leave his calling card!
He then
has some water, ate a sausage and jumped back into the car, he sat
in
the back seat all the way home, popping his head up to look out
of the
window every now and then. We had another long walk when we got
here,
then Whiskey went into his run (no issues) and has now gone to sleep.
So well
done and thanks to Riekie and her team in getting him here in
such a good condition.
Cheers,
Gerry

Riekie
& Gambol’s trip to Germany
By

My
first German Shepherd Dog made me fall in love with the sport known
as Schutzhund (German for Protection dog) and I always believed
that one day I’ll go to the world championships to represent
South Africa
|

|
It
was a dream of mine… to go to the Protection Dog World
Championships (WUSV). The sport consists of 3 phases 1)
Tracking, 2) Obedience & 3) Bite work. Even though it’s
a very long process and hard work to get all 3 phases balanced
and ready for competition, it’s still worth it.
In
2004 my boy Gambol was born…. after waiting for him
for a very long time. There was an immediate bond between
the two of us when we met for the very first time!
With Gambol’s unbelievable temperament and ability
to work I knew he will make this dream a reality for us.
After
a few years of hard work… in the mornings on my way
to work and in the evenings straight after work we were
selected to go and represent South Africa at the World Champs
2009 in Krefeld Germany. |
I
transported hundreds and thousands of pets all over the world and
now I had to arrange for my own dog, my best friend to travel with
me to Frankfurt. Obviously like all the other four legged passengers
I transported, I arranged the shortest, best trip for him. We were
very fortunate to receive sponsorship from South African Airways
for the return trip for the SA K-9’s in the Shutzhund team!
|
When
it came to preparing my dog, taking him for his health certificate,
etc… I could relate to all my clients. The anxiety
I felt… the thoughts of what can go wrong. I have
been preparing Gambol for this trip for his whole life and
more I couldn’t do. I had to accept the fact that
I had to hand my very special cargo over to the airline
and that he was going to be in good hands.
We
were booked on the same domestic flight from Cape Town to
Johannesburg and when I boarded I had to confirm
with the air host that Gambol was loaded and that he was
ok… only then I could relax (for the first stretch
of our journey).
I
made prior arrangements with SAA Cargo that I would walk
and water Gambol in Johannesburg. So when I arrived in Johannesburg
a friend collected me and took me to cargo where I could
see for myself that my dog is well. He was very relaxed….
and I caught him SLEEPING!!! While he was snoring away I
was close to heart failure worrying about him!! I took him
for a walk (woke him up first), filled his water bowl and
left for the second leg.
|

|
Upon
boarding in Johannesburg I could see him being loaded into the aircraft.
It was great to be able to see how careful he was handled whilst
being loaded into the hold. Shortly after liftoff I realized how
lucky he was, compared to me!!!
He
had ample leg space; I didn’t,
he
had his favourite pillow, I didn’t,
he
could stand up and turn around whenever he wanted to and I couldn’t!
When
we arrived in Frankfurt, with a stiff neck, numb bum and swollen
ankles we collected the car and went straight to the agent who we
employed to clear him. By the time we got to the agent, Gambol was
already in the animal lounge getting a nice walk, water and breakfast.
The custom clearance took about two hours, but this was of no concern
to me as he was out of his box and in a quiet kennel at the animal
lounge.

When
clearance was done, we went to collect him. He was refreshed, unlike
the humans, and ready to go.
A
week later we lived our dream and walked onto the field, shoulder
to shoulder, with the world’s best!
It
was for me as an international pet travel consultant great to experience
what so many of my clients has experienced… I can now even
better than before relate to the very worried two legged clients.
Will
I do it again? Most definitely yes!
